Every person has a specific, individual protection time period. In this period the skin can be exposed to the sunlight without protection and without getting red. The time period depends on the skin photo type: Type one has usually white skin with freckles, blue eyes and red or fair hair. Already after 5 to 10 minutes intense sun exposure, this type gets red. This type develops a minimal bronze tan, has bright skin, blue, green or grey eyes, fair hair. The skin reddens after 10 to 20 minutes when not used to sun exposure. Type Three has usually dark blonde to brown hair, grey or brown eyes and can stay in the sun for 30 minutes without getting red. This dark skinned type almost never experiences a sun burn, has dark hair, brown eyes and easily develops a bronze tan. The skin reddens after 40 minutes at the earliest. Skin photo type x SPF factor = individual sun protection span per day Example: Type one’s skin reddens after 10 minutes of sun exposure x SPF 20 = 200 minutes per day. Attention! Reapplication of sun lotion does not prolong the individual sun protection span per day. |
